New York Post: Wegmans serves up its first NYC eatery to lure devoted shoppers

Wegmans is betting that the cult-like devotion of its shoppers will carry over from the supermarket aisles to its first restaurant in the Big Apple.

The Rochester, NY-based chain –  which opened in Astor Place in 2023, with lines that began to form at 4 a.m. – will launch a Japanese-themed eatery adjacent to the store called Next Door on April 30.

The opening comes despite anxiety over the unpredictability of the Trump tariffs, which currently slaps Japan with a 10% levy on all imports

6sqft: Brooklyn Bridge Park opens new Pier 1 pavilion and plaza

Marking its 15th anniversary, Brooklyn Bridge Park debuted a scenic and accessible new gateway into the beloved waterfront park this week. Designed by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates (MVVA) and Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects, the new pavilion acts as a front porch to the rest of the 85-acre park, featuring lush landscaping and an elevated view of the East River and Manhattan. The pavilion and plaza’s opening marks another chapter in the park’s evolution, from its gritty industrial beginnings to becoming one of the city’s most treasured public green spaces.

For years, park goers have relished in Brooklyn Bridge Park’s open spaces, but have had to walk long distances to relieve themselves. A new pavilion by Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects (TWBTA) makes things right, however. Under Roebling’s Brooklyn Bridge, new bathrooms and a bakery greet visitors when they enter from Old Fulton Street.

Architectural Record: AE Superlab Crafts a Versatile Manhattan Office for the Post-Pandemic Era

In deciding to move to new quarters in Manhattan, Maverick Real Estate Partners wanted to make sure its staff would relish returning to the office after the less regimented work-from-home days of the pandemic. “We did not want it to be stodgy,” says Maverick co-founder Ted Martell. “And we hoped to encourage different ways of working collaboratively.”

The company asked AE Superlab, a small 10-year-old Brooklyn architecture firm, to come up with a versatile scheme for the 8,000-square-foot space on the top floor of 330 Madison Avenue.
