L&K Partners Inc. was selected by Tower Research Capital to complete a full build-out of their new, multi-floor office located in the iconic Equitable Life Building in Lower Manhattan. This landmark property, originally constructed in 1915, offered a rare opportunity to blend historical elegance with modern workplace design.
With 23-foot-high ceilings and panoramic city views, it was important to the client to restore the existing historic design elements and maintain the architectural integrity of the century-old structure. The scope of work includes construction across three floors, including a design-build internal staircase, state-of-the-art conference rooms, executive offices, event space, and employee lounge. Former dining halls of the historic “Bankers Club” were transformed into high-performance trading quads, outfitted with advanced AV infrastructure to support the firm’s tech-driven operations.
One of the unique features of the project was the careful integration of the original terracotta ceilings, meticulously preserved to honor the building’s historic charm. Ornate column capitals and decorative cherub details required, in some cases, complete reconstruction.
This renovation required a highly-coordinated approach and strategic planning between project partners and trades. The end result is a stunning example of how to merge heritage architecture with contemporary functionality.
