Manhatta, a restaurant from Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group, combines sky-high views from the 60th floor of the Skidmore building with down-to-earth hospitality and service. L&K Partners/Newgrange Construction completed the demolition and build-out of the 23,000 sf restaurant and 12,000 sf event space. Originally executive suites, the project required a complete renovation to accommodate the new restaurant design. The restaurant offers its guests a fresh perspective of lower Manhattan with floor to ceiling windows and views of the East River and Brooklyn. Key elements include a 40-foot front bar topped with walnut and lined with granite panels, custom millwork ceiling, and plaster engineered wood imported from China. The open kitchen, meant to feel like a domestic kitchen, is centrally located and features custom tiling and stone countertops. The finished project reflects the owner vison to create a balance of breath-taking views in a cozy, domestic atmosphere.
